House with a painted green metal roof

What's included

What a roof repaint covers

Corrugated iron roofs

The most common roof in the region. Cleaned, rust treated, primed and given two coats of roof paint.

Tile roofs

Concrete tiles cleaned of moss and lichen, then sealed and recoated.

Rust treatment

Surface rust is treated and primed so it does not keep spreading under the new paint.

Moss and lichen removal

Growth is killed and washed off, because paint will not hold over it.

Flashings, ridges and gutters

The edges and joins are prepared and painted with the roof.

Colour change

A new roof colour can transform the look of a house. We can advise on what suits.

Why paint the roof

Paint is what stands between roofing iron and the weather. Once the coating wears thin, rust starts, and rust that is left alone ends in leaks and a much bigger bill for replacement. Repainting at the right time is far cheaper than a new roof.

Roofs near the harbour and the coast get salt as well as sun and wind, so they tend to need attention sooner than roofs further inland.

Roof work is weather dependent and has to be done safely. We plan it for a dry, calm spell and allow in the quote for the access and edge protection the roof needs. If a roof is too far gone to be worth painting, we will tell you.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you paint over a rusty roof?

Light surface rust can be treated, primed and painted. Iron that is rusted through needs replacing first. We check and tell you honestly which it is.

How long does roof paint last?

It varies with the paint, the preparation and how exposed the roof is. A properly prepared and coated roof should give many years before it needs doing again.

How long does a roof repaint take?

Usually a few days for an average house, depending on the size, the amount of rust treatment and the weather.

Do you paint tile roofs as well as iron?

Yes. Concrete tile roofs are cleaned, sealed and recoated.
